| The European eel (Anguilla anguilla) is drastically declining in all its distribution area and listed in the red list of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature). A rebuilding plan was adopted at European level in 2007, Regulation R(CE) 100/2007, to restore eel abundance to the level observed during the seventies. Its implementation started on the 1(st) of January 2009. This species is heavily threatened by numerous activities including fishing, and its management can only be effective through a systemic approach minimizing the whole range of human-induced impacts on the resource and its habitat. | La pisciculture du Quinquis, sise près de Landivisiau (29), a pour objet la production intensive de smolts de saumon atlantique (Salmo salar) dans le cadre d'un programme d'aménagement et de repeuplement de la rivière Elorn. Depuis sa mise en eau (1976) les résultats ont été décevants et ceci à cause, d'une part de difficultés de démarrage (problèmes alimentaires en autres), d'autre part de problèmes sanitaires : la furonculose ayant entrainé des mortalités importantes dès le 1er automne (alevins à bonne croissance) ou en fin d'hiver. Au total, la survie a toujours été très faible et la production de smolts négligeable. | Les résultats de la campagne 1979-1980 ont montré la nécessité d'améliorer les performances de l'alevinage pour obtenir des résultats de production intéressants en cycle ouvert dans les conditions bretonnes. En effet, une augmentation du taux de smoltification à un an ne semble pouvoir être obtenue dans des conditions économiquement intéressantes (Charge très supérieure à 2 kg/m2), qu'à condition que la taille des tacons soit au moins égale à 6-7 cm en septembre de la première année. | De 1989 à 1992 dans le cadre d'un programme FAR financé en partie par l’Union Européenne, l'Institut Technique des Pêches et de l'Alimentation (AZTI), de San Sébastien, l'Institut Français de Recherchi: pour l'Exploitation de la Mer (IFREMER) et l'institut Espagnol d'océanographie (IEO), de Santander ont étudié l'abondance et les caractéristiques de la population d'anchois du golfe de Gascogne. Les résultats obtenus ont permis de montrer la répartition et le comportement de cette ressource, mais également la grande variabilité de son abondance qui a fluctué durant cette période d'étude entre 15 000 tonnes environ en 1989 et 100 000 tonnes en 1990. | 1. Captures des géniteurs Les saumons ont été capturés sur la Nive au barrage de Chopolo situé sur le cours inférieur à proximité de la localité d'Ustaritz (figure 1). Cette opération a été réalisée à l’aide d’une trappe de capture aménagée dans le bassin supérieur de la passe à ralentisseurs. En tout 20 géniteurs ont été capturés sous la responsabilité du CSP et de l'INRA durant la période d'autorisation de capture du 10 mai au 31 juillet 1988. Sur ces 20 saumons, on comptait 19 femelles pour un mâle. Une des femelles était marquée et provenait d'un repeuplement effectué sur la Nivelle par l'INRA. Elle a été de ce fait écartée du lot. |

| Heavy metals and organic pollutants were investigated in the Adour estuary (South West France) and associated wetlands using the European eel (Anguilla anguilla) as a bioindicator. Heavy metals (Cu, Cd, Zn, Pb, and Ag) were measured in soft tissue of yellow eels. Mercury (total Hg and MeHg) and organochlorinated compounds (7 PCBs, 11 OCPs) were analysed in muscle. Concentrations in muscle were in agreement with moderately contaminated environments in Europe and were below the norms fixed for eel consumption for heavy metals and OCPs. Analyses of liver showed a higher pressure of Ag and Zn in the downstream estuary than in the freshwater sites whereas Cd was lower in the estuary probably because of the salinity influence. | This technical report gives the characteristics of the estuarine professional fishing located in the lower course and at the mouth of Adour river during the fishing season 2000. The fishery statistics for all the migratory amphihaline species (excepted glass-eel) are recorded according to the calendar year. For the glass-eel landings, the statistics given are relative to the fishing season (November, 1, 1999-March, 31,2000). The 2000 fishing season is characterized by a medium level of landings around 50 metric tonnes, but a high turnover, the highest of the 1985-2000 series: 1.47 Meuros.
